Hello friends! Well, I admit that this article that has been a long time coming. I truly apologize for the delay (in the famous words of Natalie Tran).
I do have a lot to share with you guys though, so indulge me this time, won't you?
Here's the down-low. Basically, on a cheery, unsuspecting Tuesday a couple of weeks back, I was given the opportunity to be a part of the media showcase put on by Mediacorp!
It was a star-studded friendly event at Nanyang Polytechnic - namely, 'Localicious'!
So are you guys ready to fan-girl/guy with me yet?
Before the event started! |
If I were to guess, I would have to assume that the name is simply a referring symbolization of the many local shows introduced at the event. Or, as Google puts it:
'Of or referring to a brand, product or document that is awesomely localized, or localized in a very professional, consistent, and outstanding manner.'
In this situation, the current running show line-up is that to be run on the local channel, Channel 5 - all through February and beyond.
The five featured shows I refer to are - 'Rules of Tham', 'Code of Law', 'Wok Stars', 'Spouse for House' and 'Zero Calling' - respectively.

It was an extremely personal event that boasted the presence of talented stars like Desmond Tan, Irene Ang, Kimberly Chia, Alaric Tay and Joakim Gomez.
Aspiring film maker and local talent, Divian Nair (who also happens to be the director and protagonist of the meaningful local short film, 'Candle', co-starring Dee Kosh) spearheaded the event as the immensely confident and entertaining MC.

Audiences were set to expect something impossibly surreal as the vague promise, namely one that went something like 'the stars will be among you guys', was repeated no less than five times before said stars even arrived on location.
And in all honesty, the lot of us were definitely not to be disappointed!

After the cast members present for each show were invited down to share their experiences and insights, they were then invited off-stage to take a seat amongst the surprised fans and audience members.
Imagine the fuss that encapsulated!

Here's a personal (epic) selfie with the cast of 'Spouse for House'!
Almost Ellen material? No? |
And here is a photo of me with Desmond Tan!

Needless to say, fan clubs present were beyond delighted, not least of which were the very enthusiastic Kimberly Chia fanclub, or, rather, the 'Kimchis'.
Fan-made poster for Kimberly! |
Selena Li, a truly gorgeous actress from Hong Kong and current cast member of ''Spouse for House' set many hearts afire and gained many new fans at the event, alongside her introduction into the Singapore media scene. She was humble and patient and came across as a genuine and well-mannered person to me.

I was also given the opportunity to meet Divian and to snap a quick photo with the man. Unlike certain pretentious stars out there, Divian was unendingly down-to-earth throughout the entire night and took a lot of time to answer fan's personal questions and to take photos with them.
Divian again! :) |
Here is a picture taken with the extremely friendly Joakim Gomez! I have to say that I was almost overly excited about this seeing as I happen to have been his fan since his Singapore Idol days.
Thank you Localicious!

With all that said and done, I'd like to urge all you guys to continue to support our local show line-up! With the success of 'The Noose', Singapore talent has only gotten better and better and it only seems to be looking up from here.
I'll talk to you guys another time! Sometime soon, definitely.
Do keep an eye out for my upcoming AXN Sherlock 13-hour Marathon at Shaw article. :)
Thank you for your time! I hope to see you again.
