Misguided Arrogance (Series One)

Misguided Arrogance

An arrogance that knows no end,
Believing he's a knight -
He twists, and thrashes, and rots his own soul
And boasts that he is right!

A charming man, that knows all ends
He tells you through and through
Everything about him's just!
Your suffering's no match for two

He sees you as his champion's prize
And he'd never do you wrong
At least that's how he makes it seem
For as he says -
You hurt him always

Well listen here and know it clear:
Boastful, narcissistic lark -
Sometimes, that's how we are, as people;
With fuller lives to keep, than yours

Don't act the victim
Least, not just the one,
Your tales to listen weary
And when our pity runs its course

You'd see,
The world saw you as petty

- N.K.

Why?

Why
Did you tell me you loved me
When you treated me as you did?
And in my folly;
Made me believe it so much so that
I poured myself into
Every crack of you
Filled you to every corner

And so it became
That when you left me
I would have nothing but emptiness
That simply cannot comprehend;
Why the one that I loved
For which I fell for so deeply
Could be nothing but a lie
And a myriad of broken promises
That you could not have possibly kept
For you were nothing but
A boy in man's clothing

- N.K.

Tell Me This

Why does my heart ache
To think of you sad
When these same thoughts, I believe
You've never had

To sing words of love
When convenience was true;
Yet aspire beyond your blessing
And your spite rains anew

Why did I believe
And trust in your lies
When I knew you'd always given
The same alibis

How did I feel pity
Again and again,
As you played so well
The victim, unabashed
As true as your blame

- N.K.

You asked to know

You told me once
Your friendships are brief
And even love
Falls out of reach

You asked me sadly
If I could tell
Why everyone grows tired
Of you at all

When you try and try
And do your best
To appease each person
Without a rest

The answer's clear
That one can see
You do these things
Dispassionately

You're nice because
It validates;
And not at all
To learn or take

An interest in our lives at all
This part of you we know's a shell
Who never bothered to keep in stead
Our secrets or our pains you read

You only fear to be alone
And never truly
Care or learn,
What makes us ourselves
Or even see
The type of humans that we could be

Each friend's weakness
Is fodder for another,
You feed the ones
That you deem better

And when these fools
Are at last, aware of your games
Your disloyal, desperate
Childish aims

They cut all ties
Like paper strings,
And seek more honest
Genuine things

Like friends who'd keep their stories dear
And treat them equally
In Private;
And Public sphere

And most important of it all,
To know, my dear
Beware it all;
For time is pure, and fate will tell

Your face, In two
Would stay as thick,
And light as always, reveals it weak
The reality of your little tricks

- N.K.

Dear Readers, this is a series of original poems which I have written. I hope that you enjoy them, although they might get a little dark. These might appear emotionally charged at times.

There are four pieces of work I would like to share in this first series - 'Misguided Arrogance', 'Why', 'Tell Me This', and 'You Asked To Know'

Thank you once again for your patronage and interest :)

Yours Sincerely,
Natasha Katherine Pearl Low Ming Choo
