I think of you sometimes,
In rapid and worrying spontaneity,
In the unexpected, silliest of times.
I often wonder just what you are up to.
And feel better to know you are fine.
It is reassuring to know that you aren't sitting alone,
Or you don't need me without me even knowing.
For I know you won't find me,
Though trouble is your friend.
And I know how you suffer alone.
Know this eats me out raw,
It hurts more than a dagger,
Know the pain has a name,
Know it does leave me breathless.
I know you, my dear,
Know your sacrificial nature.
You are a person that's so often sad.
You will never acknowledge the depths of your prowess,
And I worry one day,
You'll believe you are right.
You believe in your darkness much more than the truth,
You never see beyond what is gray.
You are beautiful and capable,
Why won't you listen?
Why do your odds seem to stack up so easily?
I worry sometimes, that I will one day just lose you,
That the fates will play hands in this game.
To that day, my dear friend,
I will keep up my prayers;-
That your flight will not ever be claimed.
I hope that you live to do marvelous things,
That this negativity fails to bring you down.
That you see, with your own eyes,
What your talents can bring,
Know my words aren't just false, empty sounds.
To my friend, as you suffer,
As you suffer alone.
Do not worry, for I see things much clearer.
As you furrow your brow and you give me that chuckle,
I beg of you now, just to listen -
I will speak for the things that will matter to many.
So I say, oh my dear,
To believe.
